Pachuca Paints Itself - Mexico's Largest Mural Project Bringing a Community Together

What happens when a government asks a graffiti crew to give a small town a facelift?

This!

Earlier this year 'German Crew' were commissioned to work with the Mexican government in order to add their colourful touch to 209 homes in the district of Palmitas in Pachuca. The project called "Pachuca Paints Itself", covered 20,000 square metres and it was all for a good cause.

The commission was to bring the community together and rehabilitate the neighbourhood creating a positive impact amongst the people of Palmitas.  The results are stunning and it has been a pretty successful installation.  The artwork has brought in the tourist and according to Street Art News the project has been a "tool of social transformation as during the process, the violence amongst younger people has been entirely eradicated and several jobs created."
