Because I remember that, I also remember collecting my pocket money at the end of the month and heading out to 'Woolworths' or 'Our Price' to buy my favourite single that month on vinyl (yes I am that old) and later moving on to tape because once I got my red Sony Walkman for Christmas nothing else would do!! In fact I actually remember the very first vinyl single I bought when I was six was from Woolworths, and it was Whitney's "How Will I know".
Them were the days, hey kids?!
I do miss that excitement of getting home and playing my single out loud and putting together a little mixtape of all my favourite songs, one for every occasion. Whether it was one for when I was feeling sad to one saved for dancing around my bedroom. It was fun and the kids of today (ok now I sound like an old grump) will never experience that, and that I think is pretty sad. I mean don't get me wrong I see the full advantage of mp3s, it's easy, it's fast and every time I play one I hear the advantage of the crisp clear sound, but it's missing a little of the charm. Everything is just downloaded at the touch of a button, no need to rush out on a Saturday with your pocket money at the ready.
So it's because of this that today on Throwback Thursday, I pay homage to the mixtape, thank you for being so awesome we'll be wearing our sweatshirts in your honour today!!
You too can show your respect for the fabulous Mixtape thanks to the lovely 304Clothing check out the mixtape range here or view their entire collection here!
